Antispyware Software

Not long ago, spyware was one of the biggest threats facing internet users. Traditionally defined as software that self-installs to collect personal data, spyware has evolved into dozens of other malicious formats, and the term itself often connotes more than simply covert monitoring. Spyware can also interfere with normal computer use, installing additional infectious programs or even redirecting your web browser. This progression of spyware naturally begs the question, is antispyware software still relevant? There are also different types of spyware, such as keyloggers and screen recorders. The multifarious nature of malware has given rise to all-inclusive security software. Despite the reference to spyware in the name, most antispyware software tools do not constitute a standalone spyware remover; they are not limited to protecting against just spyware, no more than products with antivirus in the name protect only against viruses. Antispyware software can typically block all common types of malware on a PC, including spyware, viruses, rootkits, keyloggers, Trojans and more.
